Maya Kimura va nàixer a Hokkaido. Va estudiar amb Harumi Hashimoto des de l’edat de 3 anys. Després de rebre un Grau Associat en Música del COL.LEGI D’DRAMA I MÚSICA TOHO Gakuen, va acabar el curs avançat allà i va continuar els seus estudis com a estudiant especial. Va estudiar amb Keiko Nosaka i Michiko Takita en Toho Gakuen. Des de la seva infància, va rebre nombrosos premis i reconeixements, inclòs el primer premi del Festival de Música Country Koto, va guanyar el Premi de Premsa Hokkaido Shinbun, el Premi d’Incentiu del Superintendente d’Educació i el Premi Cultural Betsukai-cho (2012). El 2012, va celebrar el seu primer recital, i el mateix any, va actuar en el desè cor de Nympheart, on va rebre el catorzè premi Keizo Saji. Realitza moltes actuacions internacionals com Berlín, República Txeca, Hongria, Vladivostok, Mèxic, Xina i més. . A més, va encarregar a diversos compositors i ha realitzat moltes estrenes. Va aparèixer a TV i ràdio NHK-FM. També participen molts enregistraments de CD. És membre de “koto₋4plus”. professor de l’Associació Miyagi Koto. A més, actualment dirigeix a estudiants al club Soukyoku a l’Escola Secundària Kuki a Saitama.
